Raider Wrestling Club Background

The Raider Wrestling Club has become known as one of the most competitive clubs in the country. One reason for this success is that practice sessions are mainly structured around freestyle wrestling technique with special emphasis on takedowns. With this in mind, we highly recommend participation in spring and summer wrestling tournaments.

Accomplishments made in these tournaments by members in the past are:

USA WRESTLING NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS, Fargo, ND, eight of the Ohio national team members were from the Raider Wrestling Club. Four club members have been USA Junior National Champions: Jeff Dernlan (1985), Aaron Schetter (1987), Jeff Clemens (2001), and Nick Terbay (2002) Cadet National Champion: Lance Wagner(2004).

Five Raider Club members have been represented in the prestigious Pittsburgh Classic, 1985 (Chris Gelvin),1986 (Jeff Dernlan), 1988 (Aaron Schetter), 1993 (Tim Dernlan), 2001 (Kyle Ott).

The Raider Wrestling Club has also had six members qualify for world championships: Aaron Schetter, Aaron Moran, Jeff Abbott, Tim Dernlan, Jarrod Martin and Kyle Ott.

Seven former Raider Wrestling Club members have gained Division I NCAA All-American status: Jim Jordan (Graham), Eric Kimble (Fairborn), Aaron Moran (Versailles), Eric Smith(Wayne), Josh Robbins (St. Xavier), Tim Dernlan (Purdue)and Kyle Ott (Illinois), Mark DiSalvo (Central Michigan).
